    MCP for care planning: connect an AI assistant

    Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor to CAIRE by pasting one address and signing in with your CAIRE account. The AI tool reads your planning analysis and prepares proposals that you approve in CAIRE.

    What it is — and what it is not

    MCP for care planning lets an AI tool you already use read your planning in CAIRE and prepare proposals for you. You start from Settings → Integrations, where the address for your organization is shown.

    The AI tool works beside CAIRE, not instead of CAIRE. Anything that actually changes a schedule still happens in CAIRE, done by a person.

    • It reads the analysis of one selected schedule: health scores, the number of warnings, and what can be acted on.
    • It reads the summary of one completed import: period, number of clients, employees and services.
    • It prepares a proposal for a new visit duration, which you see and approve in CAIRE.
    • It never changes a schedule itself, publishes nothing, and approves nothing on your behalf.
    • It sees no client or employee names — only references, counts and aggregated values.

    What is required

    The card in Settings → Integrations lists five requirements and whether they are met. If something is missing, the card says who resolves it.

    • MCP is switched on in CAIRE. A central setting that CAIRE switches on.
    • MCP is enabled for your organization. CAIRE support enables it at your request.
    • You have the scheduling product. It follows from your agreement.
    • Ask CAIRE is enabled for the organization. CAIRE enables it together with you.
    • You may use Ask CAIRE. Your own organization administrator grants that permission.
    • Contact CAIRE for the first four, and your organization administrator for the last one.

    How to connect

    Go to Settings → Integrations and copy the address shown for your organization. Paste it into your AI tool and sign in with your CAIRE account in the browser when the tool asks. That is the whole setup.

    • Claude (web and app): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the address → sign in with your CAIRE account.
    • ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors (developer mode) → new connector → paste the address.
    • Claude Code: run the command shown on the card and sign in when prompted.
    • Cursor: add the address under MCP servers.
    • You only see what you are already allowed to see in CAIRE, because the tool works with your own sign-in.

    Ready-made skills for your AI assistant

    A skill is a text file of instructions that makes the assistant answer consistently and correctly about your planning: it finds the right unit and schedule itself, explains the values in a planner's words and never claims to have changed anything. Download the file and add it as a skill in your AI assistant (Claude: Settings → Skills → Add; ChatGPT and Cursor: paste the contents as project instructions).

    What can you ask?

    Ask in plain language. The examples below can be answered from what the AI tool actually reaches: the analysis of one schedule, the summary of one import, and one prepared visit-duration proposal.

    Schedule and diagnostics

    • “Summarise the analysis of this week's schedule for Almlunden: which health scores are amber or red?”
    • “How many warnings and critical issues are in the latest analysis, and how many items can be acted on?”
    • “Does the schedule have a routed solution, and how does continuity compare with supply and demand?”

    Imports and source data

    • “Summarise the latest import: which period does it cover, and how many clients, employees and services came through?”
    • “How many rows were skipped in the import, and how many warnings are in the source data?”

    Proposals

    • “Prepare a proposal of 45 minutes for the selected morning visit and show what it does to the schedule.”
    • “Prepare a proposal of 30 minutes for the service I have open in CAIRE, and say whether it can be approved.”

    Common questions

    • It says MCP is not active: go through the five requirements on the card. Most often CAIRE has not yet enabled MCP for your organization — request it from CAIRE, and it is enabled per organization.
    • The AI tool asks me to sign in again: the sign-in has expired. Sign in with your CAIRE account again in the browser. You need nothing else, and you should never paste anything secret into the tool.
    • Can the AI tool change the schedule? No. It can prepare a visit-duration proposal. The proposal appears in CAIRE, where you review it and approve or reject it.
    • Does the AI tool see personal data? No client or employee names. It receives references, counts and aggregated values — enough to explain the analysis, not enough to identify a person.
    • We want to stop using it: remove the connection in your AI tool, or ask CAIRE to switch MCP off for the organization.
