MCP: public calculators and your planning

Choose a connection: calculate from aggregate numbers without a Caire account, or connect to your organisation’s planning with your own sign-in and permissions.

Public calculators – no account needed

Connect a compatible AI tool to Caire’s two public calculators. No Caire account is needed; these tools retrieve no customer or schedule data.

    • Client-facing time: calculate visit time, travel time and other paid time from monthly totals.
    • Planning savings: explore the website calculator’s assumptions. Results are hypothetical gross impact before system fees, with no savings guarantee.

    Connect the public tools

    1. Open the MCP or connection settings in your AI tool.
    2. Add a connection using the address above. Choose no authentication if asked.
    3. Select the Caire connection in a new conversation and try the example below.

ChatGPT MCP apps and Developer mode are not available on every account or workspace. If the feature is available to you, follow the current steps in Settings → Apps or workspace Apps, then complete any OAuth sign-in and security review. Current ChatGPT connection instructions

We have 1000 worked hours, 620 visit hours and 180 travel hours this month. What is our client-facing time percentage?

Use aggregate numbers only. Never send names, identity numbers, addresses or health information.

This address is for your AI tool. Opening it in a browser takes you back to this guide.

Customer planning data – sign-in required

For Caire customers: copy your organisation’s address from Settings → Integrations and sign in with your Caire account. Access requirements and instructions follow below.

What it is — and what it is not

MCP for care planning lets an AI tool you already use read your planning in CAIRE and prepare proposals for you. You start from Settings → Integrations, where the address for your organization is shown.

The AI tool works beside CAIRE, not instead of CAIRE. Anything that actually changes a schedule still happens in CAIRE, done by a person.

    • It reads your planning per unit and week: visits, unassigned visits, client-time share, travel, waiting, capacity by hour and continuity.
    • It reads the summary of one completed import: period, number of clients, employees and services.
    • It prepares a proposal for a new visit duration, which you see and approve in CAIRE.
    • It never changes a schedule itself, publishes nothing, and approves nothing on your behalf.
    • It sees no client or employee names — only references, counts and aggregated values.

    What is required

The card in Settings → Integrations lists five requirements and whether they are met. If something is missing, the card says who resolves it.

    • MCP is switched on in CAIRE. A central setting that CAIRE switches on.
    • MCP is enabled for your organization. CAIRE support enables it at your request.
    • You have the scheduling product. It follows from your agreement.
    • Ask CAIRE is enabled for the organization. CAIRE enables it together with you.
    • You may use Ask CAIRE. Your own organization administrator grants that permission.
    • Contact CAIRE for the first four, and your organization administrator for the last one.

    How to connect

Go to Settings → Integrations and copy the address shown for your organization. Paste it into your AI tool and sign in with your CAIRE account in the browser when the tool asks. That is the whole setup.

    • Claude (web and app): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the address → sign in with your CAIRE account.
    • ChatGPT MCP apps and Developer mode are not available on every account or workspace. If the feature is available to you, follow the current steps in Settings → Apps or workspace Apps and complete any OAuth sign-in and security review. See OpenAI's current guide: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-and-mcp-apps-in-chatgpt
    • Claude Code: run the command shown on the card and sign in when prompted.
    • Cursor: add the address under MCP servers.
    • You only see what you are already allowed to see in CAIRE, because the tool works with your own sign-in.

The same question with and without a skill

Illustrative answers, not real customer results or a comparative test. Both cases use the same data and permissions. The assistant can give equally detailed answers without a skill; instructions help reuse a preferred workflow.

Question: “Which solution has the best metrics for Almlunden, week 38?” Without a skill: “B offers the best balance, A the highest client-time share and C the highest assignment rate.” With Planning analyst: the same winners, plus a repeatable comparison table with metrics, the solution period, missing measurements and a suggested follow-up. No skill may invent a winner when evidence is missing.

Question: “Do we have enough staff on Monday morning?” Without a skill the assistant can retrieve capacity and explain the gaps. With Staffing and capacity it follows a set sequence: the staffing basis used, the worst hours, the size of the gaps and a follow-up question. The skill creates no additional capacity or measurements.

What does it mean that the assistant has not changed the schedule?

Reading or analysing data does not change a schedule. The assistant must therefore not say “I updated the schedule” after only reading data. This applies with and without a skill.

MCP can also prepare a change proposal for review in Caire. After confirmed proposal creation, the assistant may say “A proposal has been created for review. The schedule has not changed.” It may also describe an already recorded change, but must not claim to have performed it. A proposal is not an approval or publication.

Skills do not replace Caire’s permission or change controls. They cannot repair a missing connection or add functionality the server does not provide.

    What can you ask?

Ask in plain language with the unit's name and the week. The assistant finds the right schedule, asks when names are ambiguous, and reads planning data without client or employee names. Read questions do not change the schedule.

    The week at a glance

    • “How does next week look for Almlunden: visits, unassigned and client-time share?”
    • “How much travel and waiting time do we have per day in Almlunden, week 38?”
    • “What separates Recommended from Max assigned visits in Almlunden?”

    Staffing and unassigned visits

    • “Is Monday morning in Almlunden covered, and which hours are short of capacity?”
    • “Why are twelve visits unassigned in Almlunden, and when do they fall?”

    Continuity and source data

    • “How many different caregivers do our clients meet on average, and how many clients are above the threshold?”
    • “What did the latest import show: period, number of clients and warnings?”

    Common questions

    • It says MCP is not active: go through the five requirements on the card. Most often CAIRE has not yet enabled MCP for your organization — request it from CAIRE, and it is enabled per organization.
    • The AI tool asks me to sign in again: the sign-in has expired. Sign in with your CAIRE account again in the browser. You need nothing else, and you should never paste anything secret into the tool.
    • Can the AI tool change the schedule? No. It can prepare a visit-duration proposal. The proposal appears in CAIRE, where you review it and approve or reject it.
    • Does the AI tool see personal data? No client or employee names. It receives references, counts and aggregated values — enough to explain the analysis, not enough to identify a person.
    • We want to stop using it: remove the connection in your AI tool, or ask CAIRE to switch MCP off for the organization.
