Access control

Page settings has Access control. By default the page is available to everyone, with no permission check, meaning everyone in the organisation who may read the handbook.

Clear that option and choose which roles should see the page. The roles come from your organisation.

  • No roles chosen: everyone with read access in the organisation sees the page.
  • Roles chosen: the employee needs one of the roles or a higher role.
  • The server does the check. A page the employee may not see is not listed and cannot be opened, not even with a direct link.
  • The chosen roles are kept in the page's version history.

Sensitive information

Do not rely on role visibility alone for sensitive information, such as pay terms. Such pages should have a dedicated permission before they go into the handbook.

Require a read confirmation

Tick Require acknowledgment from users, meaning users must confirm they have read and understood the page, and save.

The employee then sees I have read and understood in the handbook on the web, and Mark as read in the app. The confirmation is stored with its time on the employee's account.

Pages in an onboarding package can always be confirmed when opened from the onboarding, and the onboarding only counts as done once every page is confirmed.
